This large open-air sculpture park 10 km north of Vilnius was created to make a destination out of the silly scientific claim that the geographic centre of Europe is nearby (somewhere...). As a worthwhile attraction, it succeeds: there is a lovely collection of over 90 large modern art pieces displayed against the natural backdrop of 55 hectares of rolling hills and forest. Included is the Guinness Book of World Records inductee, LNK Infomedis by park founder, G. Karosas: the largest sculpture in the world made up of old television sets. The park also harbors one of Lithuania's two monuments marking the exact centre of the continent, and souvenirs are inescapable at the park shop. Though Europos Parkas is difficult to get to if you don't have a car, it is the ideal place to escape the city, throw a frisbee, have a picnic, and be in the outdoors.
