Located in an old factory above Vilnius' largest musical instrument store, Tamsta is one of, if not the premier live music venue in the city. With a live music program four nights a week, Wednesday is open-mic night when anyone and everyone is encouraged to grab their axe - whatever it may be - and pony up on stage. Thursdays feature emerging acts, while on Fridays and Saturdays you'll find well-known Lithuanian bands, as well as international touring acts, disturbing the silence. Holding approximately 300 people, Tamsta seats 180 while the rest are left to mingle and move. At the long bar with bongo barstools you won't pay any more for a drink than elsewhere (unlike many music venues) and the menu of Mexican food is a pretty good value. The feeling overall is surprisingly bohemian, inviting, and non-exclusive, with customers of all ages and occupations.
