Forto Dvaras website

Forto Dvaras' Pilies street location (one of three in Vilnius) is the place to go if you want the authentic Lithuanian culinary experience. Choose between the cozy village cottage atmosphere of the upstairs or the cavernous downstairs cellar, rife with pagan murals and off-beat art. In either you'll be bombarded with original Lithuanian music that teeters between charming and alarming(ly godawful). But hey, it's part of the experience, which wins major points in the food department: much is the menu is produced strictly by the original techniques using local ingredients - an approach which has earned it its obscure accolades from the Gastronomic Heritage Foundation. Food from all different regions of LT is featured, including delicious regional soups served in a bread loaf and 12 varieties of that lead-in-the-stomach Lithuanian specialty - cepelinai.

Forto Dvaras

I have been in Vilnius April'10 and the first restaurant I was in was "Forto Dvaras" - one of their branches in Zirmunai District. It impressed me already from the exterior view of this wooden cottage with seating outside. Everything made of woods give you the impression of Medieval age. And definitely, you will find all these delicious Lithuanian dishes served by beautiful Lithuanian girls with really nice customer service. But, the best is gonna be the drinks that you will have which is their very own "Svyturys". I never tasted anything so amazing like that beer. So, I can recommend anyone, single or couple, with or without family to go there and have an amazing time.

Hello.
I have been in your restaurant on 02.01.2010. I would like to thank to the cook for delicious meals and hot wine. I’m sorry to say that but waitress was not kind for me and my friends. Apart that restaurant is nice for local people and for guests. I just wanna say the personnel was not kind for clients. Please take a look of it and infer.
Greetings from Poland. I hope I will visit this place again. Krzysztof Smolinski

Witam Państwa.
Byłem w Państwa restauracji 02.01.2010
Chciałem podziękować kucharzowi za
wyśmienite dania i gorące wino.
Przykro mi stwierdzić, ale kelnerka nie
była względem mnie i moich znajomych
uprzejma. Po za tym, restauracja bardzo
przyjezdna dla tutejszych i odwiedzających
tu gości.
Chcę zaznaczyć, że obsługa nie była
miła dla klientów.
Proszę wyciągnąć z tego wnioski.
Pozdrowienia z Polski i mam nadzieję,
że znowu odwiedzę ten lokal.

The kitchen is really national, and the place is nice. Look at all those small details on walls. Price is low for such a place. Quite popular - I tried to get there late in Thursday's evening but couldn't - it was crowded.

What's wrong with Forto Dvaras in Old Town? It used to be my favorite Lithuanian restaurant, but recently got bad service from the kitchen. Once got a small bunch of chips with my meat, greasy and obviously thrown in as a left over from the preparation of some other dish, because too few. Another time got the food exceedingly fast, was supposed to be warm and it was stone cold, same for the accompanying chips, that must have been sitting around for a while before being served. When the waitresses got back the dish still full, she didn't bother asking what the problem was.

just the best place to eat in old town! Nice decoration in a traditional style, very good food and nice prices. we liked that almost all the food is a traditional recipets, and carefoully prepared. despite of lots of people the stuff was friendly to us. i recomend you this restaurant

The place in Old Town (they also have different locations, where I have not been) is usually busy all day long, working hours from 11 to 22. Big menu with lot of stuff, inviting repeated visits. In spite of being busy, service was acceptably prompt with a crew that bust their ass; service was in fact consistently very good, as well as food, also well presented.
