Vilnius Airport email

Vilnius Airport website

Located about 6 km south of Vilnius, the Vilnius airport is small, fast and easy. Getting there can be easily - and relatively inexpensively - arranged by taxi, or take the take the 1 bus from in front of the train station or the 2 bus from Lukiskiu square. The trip should only take about fifteen minutes (hopefully). From the Vilnius airport you'll find direct flights to 27 European cities, but be aware that nearby Kaunas airport seems to have been designated as the hub for most of the low-cost air carriers. Left luggage is open 24 hours and lost luggage, 10:00 to 15:30. There is also a 24 hour currency exchange and a cafe upstairs from which you can watch your plane take off if they've closed the gate and denied letting you board.

I found the service OK, but not as good as it could have been. Mind you, I have found similar in other countries. It seems the staff in these sorts of place change often, and they are not super-motivated. Maybe they need to be paid more? I don't know

It depends on people working there, but it could happen that the service is very rude and you do not feel welcome at all. Be careful with this place. Sometimes here it is clear why people do not want to come back to Lithuania.

Having used Vilnius Airport for many years (my wife is Lithuanian)we have been watching he modernisation over the past months. The departure check-in and lounge are now complete and are very spacious, light and airy, such an improvement on the previous set-up. Although it seems far too big at the moment, I am sure traffic will increase as integration in to the EU continues. It is just a shame that the bar and duty free shopping area are on the ground floor and have no view because of a concrete structure, presumably part of security measures, obstructs what would be a lovely view of the airfield and aircraft manoevres.I look forward to when the present tiny and overcrowded arrivals area is improved. It is, sadly inevitable, though, that all these improvements will deprive the airport of its original charm. Flying in, or out afffords wonder4ful viws of the city, and, depending on swind direction and visibility,it is possible to enjoy the most fantastic view of the fairy-tale Trakai Castle.

Hey Lifers, good news. The Vilnius Airport is opening their new terminal on October 1, 2007. With the new terminal, you'll no longer find yourself standing in queues that wrap into hallways and staircases. The new terminal will effectively double the potential passenger capacity of the airport, making room for up to 3 million passengers a year. It looks great and everything appears ready to be easily completed on time. However, if you are travelling through the airport before October 1, 2007, give yourself some extra time to navigate construction and it's necessary inconveniences...
