Vilnius' train station is not as loathsome as you might expect (we've spent the night in worse, though we certainly don't recommend it). Upon arrival, you'll find currency exchange, tourist information and left-luggage services open 24 hours. A small store in the basement is open from 06:00 to 21:00 and public phones (taksofonas!) abound. While destinations within LT are well-connected, you'll have to be more patient leaving the country. Timetables can be viewed online at litrail.lt and tickets can be bought at the station or from the conductor (for a bit more). To get to the Old Town in about 7 minutes, make a right out of the station and a left down Pylimo. Or hop on bus 26 or trolleybuses 1, 2, 5 or 7 which will all go through the city centre on their way elsewhere.
