Sportas

It may not be bang central but we were very pleasantly surprised by the Sportas. Our undercover agents thoroughly checked out the place, and Sportas came out with flying colours. 007's bedroom was not dripping with silks and chandeliers, but such luxuries were not to be expected - this place has no pretension of being anything but a mid-range stalwart. The bed was comfortable, there was an excellent shower and the service was warm and friendly. Add to that an excellent breakfast and the walk into town becomes a pleasure (don't forget to stop at the St. Peter and Paul Church - one of Europe's finest). However, we're still not quite sure why it's called Sportas as we didn't spot much in the way of tennis, basketball or tiddlywinks, nor pole-vaulting and caber-tossing for that matter.
